What does this involve?
This free employment programme helps match businesses looking for new staff with Glasgow residents looking for work.
The Glasgow Guarantee offers businesses an Employer Recruitment Incentive (ERI) that they can use to help with recruitment and training. It also gives them access to an approved pool of available and job-ready candidates.
The programme also makes it easy for unemployed or underemployed people in the city who are looking for a job or modern apprenticeship to find opportunities.
Businesses can benefit from:
- an Employer Recruitment Incentive of up to £8,000
- access to a pool of work-ready candidates
- access to additional training funds
Candidates looking for a new job can benefit from:
- instant access to Glasgow jobs and modern apprenticeship opportunities
- full support and assistance from your local employability provider
- jobs that run for a minimum of 2 years
- being paid the Real Living wage
Am I eligible?
Eligible businesses must:
- operate within the Glasgow City Council boundary
- employ fewer than 250 people
- be a private company, social enterprise or third sector organisation
- hold current public and employers’ liability insurance
- be able to provide payslips, and where requested, payroll run and business bank statements
- agree to only recruit from the Glasgow Guarantee pool of candidates
- adhere to Fair Work First commitments, which include paying all employees (including apprentices) the Real Living Wage and giving workers appropriate channels to have a voice
- not have any outstanding debt to Glasgow City Council
- be up to date on Non-Domestic Rates payments
Eligible job candidates must:
- live in a Glasgow City Council postcode or currently attend a Glasgow City Council school
- be unemployed or underemployed (underemployed means working part time or in a zero hours contract job)
- be ready and able to start and continue employment, with or without support
Job candidates must also be at least one of the following:
- leaving education in the next 3 months
- supported by an employability provider
- under threat of redundancy and supported by PACE
