What does this involve?
The Tech Ecosystem Event Subsidy from Glasgow City Council is a fund to help businesses host conferences and tech ecosystem events in Glasgow.
If you're organising a tech event in Glasgow, you can apply for funding to subsidise the costs of hosting and delivering events that attract both UK and international tech businesses, employers, talent and investors to the area.
The maximum amount you can receive is £10,000 per year. 50% of the grant can be paid upfront, once you agree to the grant conditions and provide one of the following:
- a signed lease for the event
- invoices that show that at least 50% of the event costs need to be paid in advance
The rest of the grant will be paid after the event is successfully completed. To receive it, you'll need to send in invoices from the event and a business bank statement showing your purchases.
The grant will close to new applications on 5 December 2025 or when all funds have been allocated (whichever is earlier). All proposed activity must be completed and all costs incurred by 31 March 2026.
This project is part funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Am I eligible?
Businesses and organisations must have a track record of delivering tech events or be able to demonstrate the ability to do so.
To be eligible for the grant, your event must:
- be located in the Glasgow City Council area
- take place between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026
- be in-person, with virtual or on-demand access also provided by the organiser
- be able to show benefits for the tech ecosystem
- address an identifiable gap in market
- clearly target a broad tech audience
Businesses are not eligible if they are:
- undischarged bankrupts
- subject to insolvency proceedings
- in an arrangement with creditors (including a trust deed)
- in arrears of Non-Domestic Rates (NDR)
You also cannot apply if your business has exceeded the minimal financial assistance threshold of £315,000 over the current and past 2 financial years.
What does this cost?
The grant will provide up to £10,000 to help cover the costs of the event. You'll need to cover any costs above that amount from other sources.
50% of the grant can be paid upfront, if you provide the appropriate documentation. The rest of the grant will be paid after the event is successfully completed. This means you'll need to be able to cover that additional cost upfront, and reclaim it after the event.
Who is this for?
Businesses and organisations that host tech events or wish to start doing so.
How long does this take?
You will be contacted within 10 working days after you submit your completed application by email.
The grant will close to new applications on 5 December 2025 or when all funds have been allocated (whichever is earlier).
All proposed activity must be completed and all costs incurred by 31 March 2026.
