What does this involve?
The Scottish Enterprise Energy Transition Implementation grant provides grants of £15,000 to £100,000 per project. The grant can be used for capital investment projects that support growth, improve competitiveness and create opportunities in cleaner energy markets.
The grant is for projects that are ready to begin. It does not support early-stage ideas, feasibility work or the purchase of capital assets.
The grant can cover 30% of eligible costs, with the remaining costs covered by the business.
Businesses will also need to pay for the project upfront, then submit a claim for the eligible project costs by an agreed date to receive the grant.
Projects normally last up to 12 months and must be completed within the available funding period and by the agreed project end date.
Funding is awarded under Minimal Financial Assistance (MFA) riles, which limit the amount of public funding a business can receive.
Am I eligible?
A business may be eligible if it:
- is based in Scotland
- is supported through Scottish Enterprise account management or specialist support services
- has a minimum of 10 employees
- is based in an area of Scotland served by Scottish Enterprise - that is, Aberdeen City and Shire, the east of Scotland, Tayside and the west of Scotland
- has, or plans to have, a meaningful role in the Energy Transition supply chain
- has a clear capital investment project planned
The grant can usually cover up to 30% of eligible project costs.
Eligible costs can include:
- internal staff time
- consultants (not on payroll)
- temporary specialist placements on payroll or graduate placements on payroll
- project materials
- intellectual property costs
- subcontracted activities
- training
The costs must be directly needed to deliver, commission, implement, test, validate or optimise a planned capital investment and improve productivity, competitiveness or business performance.
What does this cost?
There is no cost to apply.
Who is this for?
Small and medium-sized businesses and early stage companies based in Scotland.
How long does this take?
A Scottish Enterprise account manager or specialist adviser will explain the process in more detail once the business's eligibility has been confirmed.
Important information
The grant does not support feasibility studies, exploratory work or activity that is not directly linked to delivering, commissioning, testing, validating or optimising approved capital investment.
The grant does not fund the purchase of capital assets themselves. It supports the work needed to put that investment in place or improve how it performs.
Businesses should already have a clear investment proposal and be ready to move in to delivery.
