Glasgow Futures Employer Recruitment Incentive

What does this involve?

The Glasgow Futures Employer Recruitment Incentive supports Glasgow‑based businesses to recruit local, job‑ready people by offering a financial incentive of up to £10,000 when employing an eligible Glasgow Futures participant. The incentive is linked to the number of contracted hours and is designed to help employers create fair, sustainable job opportunities.

Eligible employers will gain access to a diverse pool of work‑ready candidates who are looking for employment.

Successful participants that secure employment will eligible to receive in work support and have access to a progression aware of up to £1,500 to undertake support or training courses, within their first 24 months of employment. 

The service is funded and administered by Glasgow City Council, in line with the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind employability strategy and Fair Work First principles.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for Glasgow Futures Employer Recruitment Incentive, businesses must:

  • be based within Glasgow City Council area
  • employ fewer than 500 people
  • be a private business, social enterprise or third‑sector organisation
  • pay the Real Living Wage to all staff (including apprentices)
  • meet Fair Work First principles
  • have valid public and employer’s liability insurance
  • have no outstanding debts to Glasgow City Council
  • recruit from the Glasgow Futures candidate pool

The person you recruit must:

  • live in the Glasgow City Council area
  • be unemployed or underemployed
  • be job ready and able to access and sustain employment, with or without support
  • be supported by a Glasgow Futures employability project 

If the person recruited has an existing job, it must be under threat of redundancy and supported by PACE.

All participants will be required to provide proof of their Glasgow address and right to work in the UK.
