What does this involve?

This free, downloadable guide can help Scotch whisky producers and distillers understand climate risks and take practical steps to build their resilience.

The guide can help whisky businesses to:

  • understand climate risks that could affect their businesses, such as heatwaves, drought, poor barley harvests, water shortages, and transport and supply chain disruption
  • take practical steps to protect their people, premises, products, processes and places
  • access other tools, including the SME Resilience Checklist, SEPA water scarcity reports, and building resilient supply chain resource

The guide includes regulatory requirements for climate risk assessment and other resources Scotch whisky businesses can use to help them prepare for the impacts of climate change.

The guide was developed for whisky producers and distillers in Scotland, but it may be useful in any region.

It is available to download as a PDF document (2.16 MB).

The guide was developed by the Adaptation Scotland programme, which helps businesses prepare for and adapt to climate change. It is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the climate resilience charity Verture.
