Apply to extend your accounts filing deadline

Support provided by Companies House

What does this involve?

Businesses must file their company accounts, reports and confirmation statements to Companies House annually. If your business has been affected by COVID-19, you can apply online for an automatic three-month extension, to give you more time to submit your accounts.

You can only apply for an extension if your normal filing deadline has not already passed.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you cannot file your accounts on time because your business has been affected by COVID-19.

You may not be eligible if you:

  • have already extended your filing deadline
  • have already shortened your accounting period

What does this cost?

This is a free service.

Who is this for?

Any business which anticipates issues with submitting their accounts on time due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

How long does this take?

It may take up to 15 minutes to complete the online application.

Important information

Applications are only accepted online. You cannot apply through email.

To apply online you will need:

  • your email address
  • your company number
