What does this involve?
West Dunbartonshire Council's Skills and Business Growth Programme will support 50% of your business's training fees up to a maximum of £3,000. The aim of this grant is to improve business competitiveness and provide employees with transferable skills and knowledge.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible, businesses must:
- be located in West Dunbartonshire
- employ less than 250 people
- not owe any debt to the council
- must have been trading for at least 12 months
- have 30% of their turnover generated outwith the West Dunbartonshire area
Eligible training fees must be external or additional to the company.
Training required by legislation is not eligible.
Priority will be given to businesses in the manufacturing sector and also businesses in the service sector which support manufacturing.
Retail businesses and businesses providing a service directly to members of the public are not eligible.
What does this cost?
The Skills and Business Growth grant is free to apply for and free support is provided.
The grant will cover 50% of your business's training fees. You will need to cover the rest.
Who is this for?
Small to medium-sized businesses in West Dunbartonshire that have been trading for at least 12 months.
How long does this take?
The Skills and Business Growth grant can be applied for all year round. Applications can take up to 2 weeks for approval.
Training must be completed within a year of the date of approval for the grant.

Training must be completed within a year of the date of approval for the grant.
Applicants will be asked to submit evidence to support their applications. For example, a copy of their management accounts and copy of a training plan provided by the relevant training provider.
