Food and Drink TechHUB Business Support Service

Support provided by Highlands and Islands Enterprise

What does this involve?

The Food and Drink TechHUB Business Support Service is a free programme that helps food and drink producers and supply chain businesses in the Highland Council area to grow and reach their potential.

The service will help you develop a business plan and give you access to specialist and technical support on topics such as:

  • product development
  • prototype testing
  • scaling up
  • packaging and product labelling
  • food safety
  • shelf life
  • nutritional analysis
  • sustainability
  • low carbon measures
  • waste management
  • equipment specifications
  • technical troubleshooting
  • factory layout
  • branding
  • marketing
  • business planning
  • e-commerce 

The programme also includes a series of workshops on technical subjects and networking events. If you attend the workshops or register your interest with the service, you will receive a 30-minute triage call with a specialist consultant to discuss:

  • your business
  • your plans for growth
  • what barriers your company faces in developing these plans
  • what support you need

This will allow the team to develop a dedicated support plan for each business. The call will also offer a signposting service through which you can receive specific introductions to people and projects in the private, academic, and public sectors, to help your business develop collaborative opportunities. 

Other support includes innovation clinics, learning journeys, common interest groups and a variety of videos, podcasts, articles and case studies.

This programme is for food and drink producers and food and drink supply chain businesses located in the Highland Council region. 

If you’re based in the wider Highlands and Islands region, you can still benefit from a variety of technical webinars that offer industry insights. These will be promoted on Highlands and Islands Enterprise website.

This is a free service.

How long does this take?

Business will receive an initial 30-minute call with technical consultants. Workshops and other events and sessions typically last for one hour.
