What does this involve?
The West Lothian Council Project Grant provides up to £7,500 towards eligible capital expenditure costs. The maximum project cost is £15,000. The grant is funded through West Lothian Council's Economic Growth Plan and is designed to help businesses invest in equipment that improves efficiency and supports growth.
The grant can cover up to 50% of eligible project costs and supports the purchase of capital items such as new equipment, excluding vehicles.
The Project Grant will prioritise projects that will:
- increase business turnover
- create employment opportunities
- improve productivity and automation
- support environmental sustainability
- improve digital capability and innovation
- support training and upskilling
The grant is primarily available to businesses that operate in:
- construction
- creative industries
- engineering, design and manufacturing
- food and drink manufacturing and processing
- life sciences, including health technology and medtech
- electronics and software
- renewable energy
- tourism
Businesses in other sectors may still be eligible if their project aligns with West Lothian Council's economic priorities.
Grants are awarded at the Council's discretion and are assessed on their likely economic impact.
All grants are paid retrospectively. Successful applicants must pay project costs upfront and reclaim the grant afterwards by providing evidence such as invoices and bank statements.
Businesses that receive a grant cannot apply for further funding for 18 months after receiving payment.
