The Energy Audit Voucher (EAV) grant is for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in North Lanarkshire with fewer than 250 employees. The grant helps businesses carry out an energy audit to get information on how to optimise energy usage, reduce costs and improve the sustainability of your business operations.

Businesses can use the grant to engage an expert to do an audit of their premises, operations and manufacturing processes. The audit will help determine your current energy use and recommend actions to reduce or replace your existing sources of energy. It may also suggest you modify your processes and apply interventions that can help reduce energy cost in the short and longer-term.

The programme aims to help address rising energy costs and energy use, and their impact on climate change.

To be eligible for this programme, you should: 

• be a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with fewer than 250 employees
• have been actively trading for at least 12 months at the time you apply
• be based in North Lanarkshire.
• own the business premises or have a commercial lease at the time you apply

The following businesses are not eligible:

• businesses in the gambling and betting sector
• bars, public houses and other drinking establishments
• large retail businesses

It is free to apply for this grant.

The grant can cover up to 100% of your eligible project costs (excluding VAT), up to a maximum of £2,500. You will need to cover any remaining costs from other sources.

You must have written confirmation of your funding before you commission the energy audit expert or start the project works or any other activity or spending relating to the project.

Small and medium-sized businesses based in North Lanarkshire.

After you submit your application, it will take at least 3 weeks to receive your final decision letter. The timescale can vary depending on the complexity of your application.

The North Lanarkshire Business Growth Programme is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
