Low Carbon Research and Development Support in Glasgow City Region

What does this involve?

This grant is available to businesses within the wider Glasgow City Region. It aims to help companies carry out research and development and innovation activities to improve existing products or processes or develop new ones that will help the company achieve low carbon emissions. 

Eligible project activity must fit within the EU’s definitions of either ‘industrial research’ or ‘experimental development’:

  • 'industrial research' means the planned research or critical investigation aimed at the acquisition of new knowledge and skills for developing new products, processes or services or for bringing about a significant improvement in existing products, processes or services
  • 'experimental development' means acquiring, combining, shaping and using existing scientific, technological, business and other relevant knowledge and skills with the aim of developing new or improved products, processes or services

In addition, this grant has been developed to specifically enable and accelerate supported businesses to decarbonise.

This grant closes on 30 June 2022.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if your business is a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) or non-SME based in one of the following local authority areas:

  • East Dunbartonshire
  • West Dunbartonshire
  • East Renfrewshire
  • Renfrewshire
  • Glasgow
  • Inverclyde
  • North Lanarkshire
  • South Lanarkshire

What does this cost?

The fund will cover up to 45% of eligible costs for SMEs and up to 25% of eligible costs for larger companies. Applicants will have to cover the remaining costs through other sources.

Who is this for?

This grant is for any business based within the wider Glasgow City Region.

How long does this take?

Funding timescales and the time required to apply will vary depending on your project and its anticipated start date.
