What does this involve?
Digital Development Loans let eligible businesses registered or based in Scotland borrow anywhere from £5000 to £100,000. The funds can be used to improve the digital capacity, digital capability or digital skills of your workforce. The loans are interest-free, have no set-up costs and can be repaid over any period up to 5 years with no early repayment fee. No director guarantees are required.
Digital Development Loans are suited to all business sectors, and are easy to apply for online.
Am I eligible?
Eligible businesses must:
- be registered or based in Scotland
- be registered in Scotland as a limited company, or the applicant must be registered with HMRC as a sole trader with a unique tax reference number (UTR)
- have been trading a minimum of 6 months (applicant business must have been receiving sales income for at least 6 months)
- meet the European definition of a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) in relation to employees, balance sheet and turnover - that means they should employ fewer than 250 persons and have an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euro, and/or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding 43 million euro
Applicants must be over the age of 18 and must be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK. All sectors are eligible for consideration. The assessment will focus more on the contribution of the project to the fund objectives.
Charities and third sector organisations can apply.
What does this cost?
The minimum loan amount is £5000 and maximum is £100,000 at a fixed interest rate of 0%. The minimum repayment term is 3 months and maximum is 60 months. There is no administration fee and no penalties for early settlement.

The loan repayment term can be up to 5 years.
