Grant funding to support recruitment of redundant apprentices

Support provided by Skills Development Scotland

What does this involve?

Adopt an Apprentice helps covers the costs of recruiting a Modern Apprentice who has been made redundant.

Businesses are eligible for a £2,000 grant to support a redundant MA to continue their apprenticeship and work towards their qualification. In the oil and gas industry, a £5,000 grant is available.

Am I eligible?

Any business can get involved in Adopt an Apprentice. The incentive is classed as State Aid under EU Regulations, and businesses can only receive a maximum of €200,000 in a three-year period.

What does this cost?

You'll pay your Modern Apprentice’s wages, with support from Adopt an Apprentice to cover costs.

Between 25% and 50% of training costs will be funded by Skills Development Scotland. This will depend on how old your apprentice is and what field they work in.

How long does this take?

You'll work with a training provider to access the funding. Once the training provider has made the application and it has been reviewed, the whole process takes around 30 working days.
