Get a grant to take on a redundant apprentice

Support provided by Skills Development Scotland

What does this involve?

Adopt an Apprentice is a financial incentive for employers to take on an apprentice who has been made redundant. You can get up to £5,000 for employing a redundant apprentice.

Take on a Modern or Graduate Apprentice on the same apprenticeship to complete their training and get £2,000 to help cover wage and recruitment costs, or £5,000 for apprentices in the Oil and Gas sector.

Adopting an apprentice can have benefits for you, your business and the local economy.

Am I eligible?

All sectors are eligible.

What does this cost?

You'll pay your Modern Apprentice’s wages, with support from Adopt an Apprentice to cover costs.

The Apprentice must continue with their employment and their apprenticeship for a minimum of 12 consecutive months or, if it is shorter, until they have successfully completed their apprenticeship.

Who is this for?

Employers in Scotland.

How long does this take?

You'll work with a training provider to access the funding. Once the training provider has made the application and it has been reviewed, the whole process takes around 30 working days.
