What does this involve?
The Community Assets Knowledge Exchange provides funding to help community organisations in the Highlands and Islands take part in training and learning experiences related to owning land or buildings.
Grants of up to £2,000 are available, although most grants will likely be about £500.
The focus is on sharing information between organisations, through knowledge exchange visits and peer-to-peer learning.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) can help tailor this support to meet your specific requirements. For example, it can be used for training based on an organisation’s specific needs in relation to community asset ownership.
Eligible activities include:
- a visit by up to 3 members of your organisation to another group, or by another group to your organisation, for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and experience
- hosting events for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and experience for the community assets sector
- other activities at the discretion of HIE
You can apply for this funding at any time.
Am I eligible?
Yes, if you are a community organisation in the Highlands and Islands that wishes to own, or already does own, land or buildings.
What does this cost?
Funding of up to £2,000 is available, although most grants will likely be about £500.
Organisations should expect to fund 10% of the total costs themselves or from other sources. You will also need to pay for all project costs upfront and then submit a claim to receive your grant.
Who is this for?
Community organisations in the Highlands and Islands that wish to own, or already do own, land or buildings.
How long does this take?
Organisations can apply at any time, but ideally at least 6 weeks before the proposed activity begins.
HIE aims to provide a funding decision to applicants within 3 weeks.
Once your funding is approved, the activity should take place within a reasonable time - ideally within 3 months.
Important information
You'll need to submit a short report after your activity finishes, explaining what your organisation has learned and how this information will be used.
