Collaborative Research and Growth Funding Competition

What does this involve?

This funding competition provides grants of between £50,000 and £350,000 to support projects that focus on improving productivity and sustainability in dairy production.

Your project can aim to solve challenges in any area of the industry, including dairy farming, milk transport and logistics, as well as milk processing and the manufacture of other dairy products.

Your project should demonstrate a realistic potential to support business growth, scale-up and job creation in Cumbria or south and west Scotland.

This competition will open for applications during a 6-week period in April and May 2024. Exact dates will be published closer to the time.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if the project’s lead partner is based in Cumbria or south or west Scotland, or you can demonstrate that your project will have a significant economic impact in the region.

Your project must:

  • be collaborative and led by a business
  • request an amount of funding between £50,000 and £350,000
  • last between 6 and 24 months
  • carry out a significant amount of its work in south and west Scotland or Cumbria
  • plan to use the solutions it develops in south and west Scotland or Cumbria

Businesses are encouraged to collaborate with Digital Dairy Chain research organisations, including Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), the University of the West of Scotland, the University of Strathclyde and CENSIS, to develop their research and make sure it has both commercial uses and wider benefits for society.

How long does this take?
