What does this involve?

Argyll and Bute Council may be able to provide grant funding to help you develop your business. Grants of up to £3,000 are available.

Applications should be made through the downloadable form. You will need identify the items that you require grant support for and justify your need for a grant. You will also be asked to provide information about your business and a 12-month cash flow forecast.

The fund will close to new applicants on 31 January 2023, or sooner if all funds are used. Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until all funds are allocated.

Am I eligible?

To apply for the Argyll and Bute Council Small Business Development Grant 2022, your business must:

  • be based in Argyll and Bute
  • be considered micro or small-sized (with fewer than 50 employees and a turnover of less than €10 million or a balance sheet total of less than €10 million)
  • have been actively trading for at least 3 months before you apply
  • provide the equivalent of full time employment for you or a member of staff at the current Real Living Wage or more (or have clear potential to do so within 12 months) 

What does this cost?

There is no cost to apply for the grant. Grants are available in amounts up to £3,000 and require 25% match funding.

Who is this for?

The grant is for businesses in Argyll and Bute that need support to develop.

How long does this take?

After you submit your completed application form and any supporting documents, you must meet (by phone or video) with a business adviser from Argyll and Bute Council's Business Gateway to discuss your application. You should receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of meeting with the adviser.

Important information

If your application is approved, you will receive an offer letter that confirms the items that can be supported by the grant and the maximum value of the grant available to you.

You claim your grant by submitting proof of expenditure for the approved items (invoices and bank statements). Claims for approved costs should be submitted within 12 weeks of any offer of grant.
