Angus Council - Business Improvement Grant

Support provided by Angus Council

What does this involve?

This fund is now closed. The Business Improvement Grant is available to businesses registered and based in Angus that are looking to innovate, diversify and future-proof their work as they make their way through and out of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The grant will enable businesses to:

  • future-proof their business
  • ensure survival
  • secure growth opportunities by being innovative in outlook and practice
  • promote economic recovery
  • protect and enhance job security
  • retain and potentially create jobs

One-off grants of £2000, £5000, £8000 or £15,000 are available.

There will also be 12 one-off grants of £25,000, available for projects that are particularly innovative and likely to return the greatest economic impact. These will be allocated through a Dragon's Den-style event, where candidates pitch their projects to a panel of Angus business leaders.

Businesses who qualify for this amount will also have the opportunity to receive one-to-one business mentoring.

Applications will close at 9am on Monday 6 December 2021.

Am I eligible?

This fund is open to any business from any sector, registered and based in Angus, that is seeking to innovate and diversify.

Examples of innovation and diversification can include (but are not limited to):

  • introducing an online selling function
  • buying new equipment to support the manufacturing of a new product
  • working independently or in collaboration with other businesses to bid for tenders/contracts
  • introducing a new service as part of a diversification programme for the business
  • increasing marketing costs to cover a venture into new markets

Businesses that have received Scottish Government COVID-19 grant support can apply. However, if there is an alternative source of funding available, businesses should apply for that first.

What does this cost?

Applying for this fund is free.

All grants are available based on a 75% contribution towards the total project costs. Businesses must provide at least 25% of the funding.
