What does this involve?

Scottish Business Cares is a goodwill collective formed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It is delivered by The Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC) in partnership with the Scottish Government.

  • webinars with industry experts to help business leaders navigate the pandemic
  • timely advice delivered through their social media, apps and video platforms
  • triaging and one-to-one mentoring for organisations who need immediate support from leading industry mentors
  • collaborating with and co-ordinating the business community around public sector efforts for COVID-19, specifically volunteering or supply chain engagement
  • mobilising professional volunteers via the furlough scheme to support industry and the public sector, including the NHS, Scottish Government, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

Important information

Scottish Business Cares is also developing an app that should be available later this summer.

It will offer a range of functions, including an assessment tool for organisations to review and support their resilience planning, and notifications and advice on resilience issues specifically relevant to the user’s sector, size, and region.

Data from the app will contribute to reports to Scottish Government about business confidence and support needs, to aid in the development of plans for further government support.

The app will also be a gateway to a one-to-one mentoring service for organisations who need immediate support in overcoming challenges brought on by COVID-19. Each participant will get a total of seven hours of mentoring from a business leader with knowledge and experience relevant to their specific situation. Mentors are drawn from a variety of industries, including entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

The mentoring programme will launch with up to 50 SMEs who have previously participated in SBRC’s webinars and grow based on demand and funding availability.
