Energy Market Expert Support for Low Carbon Transport

What does this involve?

Energy Market Expert Support (EMES) helps businesses consider opportunities in the low carbon transport sector by providing them with up to 4 days of support from expert consultants at Cenex. This support is funded by Scottish Enterprise.

The support is targeted at companies with no experience of working in low carbon transport that are looking to diversify into the sector, as well as companies with some experience of low carbon transport that are looking to grow their business in the sector.

The consultants can work with your business to help with market analysis or technical due diligence, specifically in the following areas:

Market analysis

You can get help to:

  • assess your business' current capabilities (such as skills and processes) and its potential in relation to current opportunities
  • determine the suitability of a specific product for the sector
  • understand market/supply chain positioning

Technical due diligence

You can get help to assess:

  • the level of technical innovation and the impact of the project, through comparison of technologies and site operations
  • the technical risks and challenges of the project
  • the commercial potential, market need and exploitation route, including a review of project costs, marketing strategy, demand drivers and legal issues
  • the positive and/or negative impact of the project on the environment, with risks and opportunities

Am I eligible?

You are eligible to apply if your business is:

  • any size
  • registered or with an address in Scotland¬†
  • with or without experience of working in low carbon transport¬†
  • looking to diversify into the sector
  • experienced in low carbon transport and looking to grow in the sector

What does this cost?

EMES is fully subsidised for up to 2 days of consultation, and 50% subsidised for up to 4 additional days of consultation.

Who is this for?

This service is for any company looking to diversify and gain further market penetration in low carbon transport.


How long does this take?

It will take less than 15 minutes to complete the application form. Once you have submitted an application form, it may take up to 2 weeks for someone to contact you.

Important information

EMES runs until 31 March 2022. Applications will be evaluated on an ongoing basis and are not first come first served.
