Coronavirus guidance for close contact services

Support provided by Scottish Government

What does this involve?

The Scottish Government has published guidance for businesses and individuals who provide close contact services to help them operate safely during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This advice is to be used alongside the general guidance on safer businesses and workplaces, which should be the main reference document for practitioners.

As close contact services may carry an increased risk of transmission, this guidance will help you understand what you need to do to keep your workplace, staff and customers safe during coronavirus.

Close contact services include hairdressers, barber shops, beauty and nail bars, spa and wellness businesses, dress fitters and other businesses where close contact is required.

The guidance includes information on:

  • the current situation in Scotland
  • key mitigations, including:
    • face coverings
    • self-isolation
    • Test and Protect
  • additional precautionary measures, including
    • vaccinations
    • ventilation
    • cleaning and hygiene
    • other ways to reduce risk
  • specific advice on face coverings and PPE for close contact services
