Co-Innovate

Support provided by Scottish Enterprise Highlands and Islands Enterprise

What does this involve?

The Co-Innovate programme promotes innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in rural areas in the West Coast of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the border counties of the republic of Ireland.

Resource, funding, advice and expertise are made available to promote business improvements for tradable services that could be traded outwith that immediate geographic area. The service can also signpost to relevant contacts and partners.

Sections of the programme

Co-innovate is a series of linked but separate services:

Stage 1 – Innovation workshops

Stage 2 – Business review

Stage 3 – Innovation consulting

Stage 4 – Links to cross-border universities and an intern/project manager to work on innovation projects

Stage 5 – B2B innovation projects, Cluster of businesses working on innovation projects together

Currently, only Stage 2 is open to new businesses. The business review involves an online discussion to establish each company’s foundations for supporting innovation in general. Strengths and opportunities for improvement will be identified and feedback provided to each business.

Am I eligible?

The programme is open to small or medium sized businesses (SMEs) that are looking to innovate and are based in the Outer Hebrides, Skye and Lochalsh, Lochaber, Argyll and the Islands, Ayrshire and Arran and Dumfries and Galloway.

What does this cost?

This is a free service.

Who is this for?

Small and medium-sized businesses in the Western Isles, Skye and Lochalsh, Lochaber, Argyll and the Isles, Ayrshire and Arran, Dumfries and Galloway.

How long does this take?

For the business review, there is an initial 1 hour call, plus follow-up activity.

Important information

The Co-Innovate Programme has been running since 2017 and will end in September 2022.

Currently, only Stage 2 is open to new businesses.

The Co-Innovate programme is supported by the European Union's INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
