What does this involve?
This 5-month training programme is aimed at small businesses and start-ups in Scotland that offer products and services related to clean heat and energy efficiency in buildings.
The accelerator can help you grow your business and build networks in the clean heat technology sector. It can help you increase your skills in areas such as:
- team building
- growth planning
- customer engagement
- creating new customer networks
The programme takes place over a period of 21 weeks, including 3 break weeks. You'll need to allow about 4 hours each week to take part in sessions. These include
- 2 live online workshops and events each week
- 3 in-person learning and networking events
- one-to-one mentoring sessions with industry experts
The 2025 programme will begin the week of 19 May 2025.
A £2,000 bursary is available for each business to help cover the cost of participating.
To get the most out of the programme, participants should be key decision makers in their business. However, other team members may attend events that are relevant to their role.
The deadline to apply is 9 April 2025 at 5pm.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible, your business must be:
- a start-up or small to medium-sized enterprise (with fewer than 250 employees)
- registered or operating in Scotland
Your business should also develop, manufacture, install or maintain technologies or components related to clean heat. These include, but are not limited to:
- heat pumps
- thermal storage
- heat networks
- solar thermal
- biomass
- insulation
- deep retrofit
- sensors
- metering
- smart controls
- energy-efficient heating systems
- energy-efficient building solutions
What does this cost?
The accelerator is free to take part in, but there may be other costs associated with attending depending on your circumstances. For example, you may have to pay for travel or take time away from your business. A stipend of £2,000 is available to each business to help cover the costs of participating (subject to attendance).
The accelerator does not provide direct funding or investment for your business. Instead, it offers in-kind support to help your business grow and scale.
Who is this for?
Small or medium-sized businesses or start-ups that work in the clean heat sector in Scotland.
How long does this take?
The programme takes place over a period of 21 weeks. This includes:
- 16 weeks of digital sessions, with 2 live online workshops and events each week
- 3 break weeks
- 2 in-person learning and networking sessions
You’ll need to allow about 4 hours of your time each week for the digital sessions.
The in-person sessions will each take a full day.
You'll also take part in one-to-one mentoring sessions with industry experts. These sessions are flexible –there’s no set number or schedule. You’ll be introduced to your mentor at the start of the programme and can develop a plan that works for you.
The 2025 programme will begin the week of 19 May 2025.
