Visitor Attractions Support Fund

Support provided by Visit Scotland

What does this involve?

This fund is now closed for applications.

The £10 million fund is being delivered by VisitScotland, on behalf of Scottish Government and has been developed with input from the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA).

The COVID-19 lockdown, travel guidance, and current social distancing measures continue to place visitor attractions under considerable financial strain. The purpose of this fund is to help ensure the survival of visitor attractions which play an important role in both the tourism industry and in local communities in Scotland.

Visitor attractions will be able to apply for grants of up to £50,000, dependent on their turnover.

Am I eligible?

This fund will be open to visitor attractions who can meet the following criteria:

  • the business meets the definition of a visitor attraction as defined within the criteria document on VisitScotland.org
  • the business is one of the "eligible business types" defined in the guidance
  • the visitor attraction is in/delivered in Scotland
  • the company has a valid annual insurance document to cover third party liability and/or employee liability insurance for the year ending in 2020/21 tax year
  • the visitor attraction had a minimum annual turnover of £10,000 or more in the year 2019/20 (as verified in the company’s annual accounts)
  • the company intends to operate the visitor attraction in 2021
  • the business must not have been in financial difficulty as at 31 December 2019. An operator of a SME or large organisation should see the "Subsidy Control" section in the guidance document for more information.

Read the full guidance on eligibility on the VisitScotland website before making an application.

What does this cost?

This is a free service.

Who is this for?

The fund is aimed at visitor attractions in financial difficulty with considerable concerns about their survival as a result of the impact of COVID-19.

If you operate more than one visitor attraction, you can submit an application form for each visitor attraction.

How long does this take?

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 18 February 2021.

Important information

The fund is now open for applications. Applications should be completed on VisitScotland.org.

Applications WILL NOT be assessed on a first come first serve basis.

There will be an application assessment process before the final decision is made.

If your application is rejected, you can appeal the decision.

Due to the limited amount of funding available, and in the interest of fairness, the final amount awarded to a successful applicant will be determined once all applications are received and vetted.
