What does this involve?
This Scottish Government scheme helps owners of non-domestic properties, including businesses, with a lower rateable value to claim non-domestic rates relief.
To apply, you'll need to go to your local authority's website to fill out a Small Business Bonus Scheme Application Form.
For businesses with 2 or more properties, if the total rateable value for all properties is less than £35,000, then you can claim 25% relief on individual properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or less.
For properties with a rateable value between £15,001 and £20,000, the relief will be provided on a sliding scale based on the specific rateable value. Your council will provide further details after your application.
Am I eligible?
Yes, if the combined rateable value of all your business properties is £35,000 or less and the rateable value of each individual property is £20,000 or less.
Relief rates will vary depending on the rateable value.
Only properties that are occupied are eligible.
The following businesses and properties are not eligible:
- payday lending businesses
- car parks
- car spaces
- advertisements
- betting shops
What does this cost?
This is a free service.
Who is this for?
All businesses in Scotland with business premises with a rateable value up to £20,000.
How long does this take?
This will depend on the complexity of your application.
