What does this involve?
This grant is designed to stimulate business activity in low-income neighbourhoods in Glasgow where few businesses operate by providing grant funding towards the lease of a business property.
The aim is to encourage new or existing businesses to locate in these areas, to help improve the quality of life for local communities and:
- increase local job opportunities
- improve local access to goods and services
- stimulate local economic activity
Funding of up to a maximum of £15,000 is available over a 2-year period. The grant will cover a maximum of 50% of the annual business rental cost.
Am I eligible?
You must be actively working with a Business Gateway adviser to be eligible. You can only apply if recommended by your adviser.
The Community Business Boost budget is available across qualifying post codes in:
- Glasgow North West
- Glasgow North East
- Glasgow South
Excluded areas are:
- City Centre
- West End
- Shawlands Business Improvement District
Premises within industrial estates and business centres do not qualify for this grant, as the focus is on enhancing local town centres across Glasgow.
You are not likely to be eligible for funding if:
- there are already many businesses that supply the same product or service in your area
- you are an undischarged bankrupt, subject to insolvency proceedings or have entered into an arrangement with your creditors (including a trust deed)
- it would give your business an uncompetitive and unfair advantage over existing traders in the area
- you are engaged in unethical activities
- you are engaged in gambling and other industries that could be deemed unethical
What does this cost?
It is free to apply for the funding.
Who is this for?
Small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) located in Glasgow.
How long does this take?
Once you submit an enquiry, your Business Gateway adviser will respond within 7 working days.
Important information
Applications will not be processed unless they are accompanied by a business plan and supporting financial information.
Applicants must not sub-let any space or part of their premises that has been approved for Community Business Boost funding. The funding can only be used for premises that are solely occupied by the applicant business.
