What does this involve?
Transport Scotland has committed a further £900,000 towards the eBike Grant Fund in 2021/22. This funding will help third sector organisations, active travel hubs, community groups, local authorities, public sector agencies and further and higher education institutions to adopt ebikes and other sustainable alternatives to car journeys.
The fund can be used to cover the cost of ebikes, etrikes, ecargo bikes, cargo bikes, trailers, tandems, adapted cycles and trikes.
Am I eligible?
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for funding under the eBike Grant Fund:
- public, community or third sector organisations must have a governing body, a democratically elected management committee and a governing document that has been formally adopted
- organisations must provide sufficient match funding from an eligible source - other Transport Scotland funding is not eligible
- 25% match funding for community and third sector organisations (in-kind funding permitted)
- 50% cash match funding for public sector bodies (in-kind funding not permitted)
- organisations must be able to sustain the use of purchased equipment beyond the initial project period
What does this cost?
Community and third sector organisations must get 25% match funding.
Who is this for?
Third sector organisations, active travel hubs, community groups, local authorities, public sector agencies and further and higher education institutions in Scotland which are interested in sustainable transport alternatives.
How long does this take?
You will normally receive a decision 6 to 9 weeks after you apply.
Important information
Projects can also apply for extra funding, limited to 5% of the total project cost, to provide subsidised ebike hire for target groups. This is to ensure equal access to ebikes for these groups, which include those on low incomes, with disabilities or mobility issues, jobseekers, modern apprentices, young people and students.
