Eat Out to Help Out scheme for restaurants

What does this involve?

Restaurants and other eating establishments registered for this scheme can offer customers eating in a 50% discount and claim the money back from the UK Government. The discount is available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 31 August 2020.

By offering this incentive, restaurants and other establishments can encourage customers to visit on quieter days of the week and start to build up their businesses again.

Customers will be able to search for restaurants which offer the discount within a 2-mile radius of their postcode. This service will be available from 31 July 2020.

The discount can be applied to food and/or non-alcoholic drink purchased for immediate consumption on premises, up to a maximum discount of £10 per diner (inclusive of VAT).

This includes soft drinks and/or packaged snacks, as long as they are for immediate consumption on the premises.

There is no minimum spend requirement.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you are an establishment in which food is sold for immediate consumption on the premises. “Premises” means any area set aside for the consumption of food or non-alcoholic drink by an establishment’s customers, whether or not that area may also be used by the customers of other establishments.

You must have been operating or submitted an application to the relevant local authority to operate as a food business on or before 7 July 2020 to be eligible.

What does this cost?

This is a free service.
