What does this involve?
If your employee has a health condition that affects their work, they could benefit from Working Health Services Scotland (WHSS). This service provides free and confidential advice and health support for staff in companies with fewer than 250 employees, as well as self-employed people.
Services include quick, free access to:
- counselling
- physiotherapy
- occupational therapy
Employees can refer themselves to WHSS, or employers can make a referral with the employee's consent. Upon referral, WHSS will set up a telephone appointment for the employee with an assigned case manager. The case manager will discuss their circumstances and help them through the process.
The case manager will:
- complete a comprehensive assessment
- develop an action plan
- liaise with GPs, if required, and other relevant professionals
- co-ordinate treatment
The case manager may also direct the employee to services for help and advice on issues such as:
- housing
- employment
- debt management
All treatments and interventions are delivered in local community venues whenever possible.
